Paris launch of La Ballade de Cass Wheeler, the French edition of Greatest Hits

I’m always fascinated by how the various translated editions of my novels turn out – the titles and covers each publisher chooses to render the novel’s themes in terms that make the most sense in that language and that country.

So it was an absolute honour to travel to Paris with Kathryn Williams to perform at the launch of La Ballade de Cass Wheeler, the French edition of Greatest Hits, published by Les Escales. (I love this title – it sounds like the chanson Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin never wrote – and the book is pretty beautiful too, riffing on the UK paperback cover design).

The event was held at the Gibson showroom, which is pretty much guitar heaven on earth (my husband was most upset not to be able to accompany us to admire his favourite Gibson 335 guitar in the flesh), and we performed three tracks and readings from the novel to French booksellers, sales people and journalists. ┬áC’etait un grand plaisir.

La Ballade de Cass Wheeler is officially out and in all good French-language bookshops now.
