Interview with Mariella Frostrup on Open Book, BBC Radio 4

Posted in News

Having listened to Radio 4’s wonderful Open Book programme quasi-religiously for about the last ten years, I was absolutely over the moon to be invited on to talk to Mariella Frostrup about The Versions of Us – and seriously nervous, too.

I managed to swallow my nerves enough to talk about the novel with what I hope is something vaguely resembling articulacy. I can certainly see why Mariella is such a successful broadcaster: she immediately put me at my ease (and was super-nice as well).

Chris White, fiction buyer from Waterstones, was also there, and we talked about the best summer reads for 2015, from the brilliant-sounding Kolymsky Heights to my own personal recommendations, A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler and Plainsong by Kent Haruf.
